Our presenter, Dr. Joshua Lenchus, will provide an overview of pain management, clarify the impact that pain can have on health outcomes, and emphasize the current standards for prescribing controlled substances, particularly opiates. The course goal is to equip clinicians with strategies and tools to support and improve their prescribing practices.

Dr. Joshua Lenchus

Joshua Lenchus, DO currently serves as Medical Director for Aetna. Dr. Lenchus has presented on opioids and controlled substances locally, regionally, and nationally for several years. He graduated from NSU College of Osteopathic Medicine and holds a pharmacy degree from the University of Florida. He completed his internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Subsequently, he worked as a hospitalist for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he held the rank of associate professor of medicine, anesthesiology, and radiology. From 2007-16, he also served as an associate program director for the internal medicine residency. Dr. Lenchus is incredibly involved, serving as a leader in organized medicine at multiple levels, including Past President of both Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and Florida Medical Association, past Regent and current Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and Senior Fellow of the Society of Hospital Medicine.
