About this course
Our presenter, double board-certified Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist Krithika Iyer, MD, will provide an overview of the current practice guidelines for substance use disorders (SUDs), highlight effective interventions, illuminate disparities that may exist in the treatment of SUDs, and share ideas to reduce stigma toward those seeking treatment of SUDs. The ultimate goal is to equip clinicians with compelling information, evidence-based strategies, and practice tools to treat and manage patients with substance use disorders more effectively.
Dr. Krithika Iyer
Dr. Krithika Iyer is a double board Certified Adult and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist practicing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She
graduated from Grant Medical College and completed a residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. She has affiliations with
local hospitals that include Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center and HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital. Actively served the community in various settings that include Inpatient level of care, Outpatient, Detoxification and Residential Rehabilitation Centers. Most recently she was serving in the role of Core Faculty at HCA Woodmont
Psychiatry Residency Program training Resident physicians and Medical Students. She has been actively involved with FPS (Florida Psychiatric
Society) for the past 12 years. She is also the Chair of the Addiction Committee and Co Chair of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Committee
at Florida Psychiatric Society. Dr. Iyer’s areas of interest include Psychopharmacology, Substance Use disorders, Cognitive Behavioral
therapy, Brain Imaging and ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy).
