The course is presented by the Florida PDMP Foundation, a Direct Support Organization to the Florida Department of Health. Funding for this program comes from the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Overdose Data to Action grant. This course is approved for 1.25 hours credit for medical doctors, osteopathic physicians, physician assistants and doctors of podiatric medicine and 1.0 hours credit for dentists, pharmacists, and nurse practitioners.

The program features three of the leading speakers very knowledgeable in providing health care practitioners who prescribe and dispense control substances a better understanding of the benefits of the state’s Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (E-FORCSE) in addressing the national opioid epidemic. Following the speaker’s presentations, they will form a panel to address questions and answers from the audience.

Bob Macdonald is from Seminole, Florida. In 2013, he was named Executive Director of the Florida PDMP Foundation. Prior to taking this position Mr. Macdonald was on the executive staff of the Florida Dental Association for over 20 years and served as its director of dental care and health. In 2021, Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Mr. Macdonald as the senior consumer representative on the Florida State Board of Nursing. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a graduate degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of Cincinnati.

Following Mr. Macdonald will be Mr. Jason Winn, Tallahassee. Mr. Winn is in private legal practice and serves as the PDMP Foundation legal counsel. He is also General Counsel for the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and Florida Podiatric Medical Association. Prior to entering private practice Mr. Winn was an Assistant Public Defender in the Fifth Judicial Circuit. He is a noted lecturer on the Laws and Rules affecting allopathic, osteopathic, podiatric physicians practice and tonight will review the legalities related to the law implementing the state PDMP. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and graduated from the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law School. He is a member of the Florida Bar. 

Our final speaker and keynote presenter is Dr. Joshua Lenchus, Ft. Lauderdale. He is an osteopathic physician and Board certified in Internal Medicine and a registered pharmacist. Among his positions were chief medical officer of Broward Health and Chief of Staff at Jackson Memorial Hospital.  Dr. Lenchus is Immediate Past President of the Florida Medical Association and past president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association. He is a Senior Fellow in the Society of Hospital Medicine, a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at NOVA. Dr. Lenchus is one of the leading lecturers in ‘Opioids and Control Substances’ having presented this course at many professional health care association meetings to meet the state mandated two hour required course for biennial re-licensure. Dr. Lenchus received his undergraduate degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida and his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from NOVA-Southeastern University.
