About this course
The approach to opioid prescribing has shifted significantly in recent years due to the opioid epidemic. It is imperative that prescribers stay up to date on current best practices and regulations. This CE/CME webinar is being offered to ensure that prescribers in Florida are using evidence based clinical practice guidelines to make safer and more effective pain management decisions, including knowing when opioids are appropriate, how to determine safe dosages, and when to consider alternative pain management strategies.
Dr. Debra Barnett
Dr. Barnett attended medical school at University of South Alabama and completed psychiatric training at University of South Florida. After obtaining board certification in General Psychiatry, she obtained board certifications in Geriatric, Addiction, and Forensic Psychiatry. She achieved the APA designation of Distinguished Life Fellow. The Florida Psychiatric Society has awarded her with Practitioner of the Year, and she continues to be active with FPS. She has served as Chair of the Addiction Psychiatry Committee, Secretary, President, and is the Chair of the Legislative Committee. She has been the FPS representative to the local Medicare carrier’s Contractor Advisory Committee, delegate to the FMA, and is one of the Representatives to the APA Assembly, where she has authored numerous Action Papers.
